Old photos and memories<\/p>\n\n\n\n
are such dangerous things<\/p>\n\n\n\n
when you\u2019re prone to melancholy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That nostalgia reaches right up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and pulls me down<\/p>\n\n\n\n
reminding me of moments past<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as if nothing will be that bright again<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of looking back fondly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I find myself with empty holes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
where those people and places should be<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as if not being right here right now<\/p>\n\n\n\n
means there\u2019ll never be back<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as if something is missing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and that picture is all I have left<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s not the fault of the images<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that perfectly capture in time<\/p>\n\n\n\n
a brief moment of happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but rather of my head<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and some part of me that wishes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that all good times could last<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and in the in-betweens<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that part refuses to understand<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that nothing is forever<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and there\u2019s no such thing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as permanent instant gratification<\/p>\n\n\n\n
there are lives out there to lead<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and someday soon this bright skies<\/p>\n\n\n\n
will likely return<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but right here, right now<\/p>\n\n\n\n
those faces are somewhere else<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and those memories are what I have<\/p>\n\n\n\n
not as some twisted, painful reminder<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but as a promise that nothing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
