Fractures

Sometimes the fractures you find
Are just too large to fill
You wield your words and actions
Like tools to patch the broken
But sometimes those breaks are just too big
It’s not meant to be your burden
To carry on your shoulders
That which drags everyone else down
And you won’t always know
When someone you think needs fixing
Has chosen to stay damaged
And therefore isn’t broken in the first place

When you find the right one
The one that needs your handiwork
You’ll well and truly know
Until then you only break yourself
A little more each time
When you try to help those
Unwilling or unable to help themselves
